We’ll Meet Again
(Now the Last Poppy Has Fallen)
“We’ll meet again”, I said to my wife
As I left for the war, I feared for my life.
The fighting was fierce, many men died.
I prayed for the Lord to stay by my side.
My prayers were answered, I survived the night.
When morning came, I refused to fight.
I was called a coward and thrown in a cell,
To me, it was relief from the living hell.
My execution time is set for eleven.
Dear wife, “We’ll meet again, but it will be in heaven.”
